Each city has its own history. Including city recently received the title as the most expensive city in the world from the Economist Intelligence Unit, which is Tokyo.
One place that can tell me the history of Tokyo is the Edo-Tokyo Museum. Edo-Tokyo Museum is located close to the sumo stadium in Tokyo Ryogoku. A preferred place for tourists who want to dig deeper into the history of Tokyo.
Last week, detikTravel also visiting this museum. Statue of a man dressed in traditional clothing standing proudly in the Edo-Tokyo Museum. He stood as if ready to welcome visitors.
Figure immortalized in statue form, of course, is not an ordinary person. According to our tour guide, Akiko, the statue is a statue of Tokugawa Ieyasu. More than four centuries ago, precisely in 1590, Tokugawa Ieyasu established stronghold in Edo.
Edo at that time was a remote village. No one imagined that the village was once covered with reeds can be transformed into a modern city. In fact, no one can deny it became one of the most important cities in the world.
Later in 1868, the name was changed to Tokyo Edo. Since then, the city transformed rapidly. Along the way, Tokyo has managed through several major disasters. Some of the disaster was Great Kanto earthquake in 1923, until a horrific attack during World War II in 1945.
Visiting the museum is run by the government, the visitors seemed thrown into a time machine. Obviously, Edo-Tokyo Museum displays a variety of replica buildings in Tokyo Edo period made with great detail.
After crossing the Nihonbashi bridge, we were presented with a replica that describe the atmosphere in the area north of this bridge. Of course all displayed in accordance with the atmosphere of the period. This replica contains 600 miniature people with careful cultivation, visible from the appearance.
Departing from this replica, we also probe deeper into Tokyo in the past. In addition to the atmosphere of the city, we were also invited to look at their lifestyle and culture of the time, through the imitation of traditional houses, water systems, including the popular vehicles of its time.
Japan's first telephone booth is also on display at the Edo-Tokyo Museum. Not to forget the properties and costumes used in the famous Kabuki theater, Sukeroku, participated mejeng museum was founded in March 1993 kitschy this.
More fun again, visitors are free to climb into the vehicle for the museum's collection of Japanese traditional popular in its day. As seen in the photo, my friend, Kai Ying from Singapore, fun posing on a means of transportation on display.
From various replica shown, we were enthusiastically witnessed the transformation of Edo to Tokyo with her mouth endlessly amazed.
If you want to enter, set aside money 600 Yen (U.S. $ 62,000) to make up for adult admission. It took about 2 hours to explore the museum through.
Congratulations to reminisce with Tokyo!
